In May 1989 trustees approved a 2,700 sq. feet expansion to the library. Renovation includes new study carrels, index tables, student library tables, and computer lab. |
The first floor of the Correll building became the home of the library in 1976. The library was housed in one wing of the new building with classrooms and medical clinic in the other wing.
Construction continued on the second floor of the Correll building until completion in 1981 which doubled the library size. At this time, the library had one librarian/professor, one part-time catalog librarian, and one part-time student worker. A curriculum lab filled with material from the Southern Baptist was added in 1987. It was one of only 28 in the nation. Library automation began in 1991 with an online Interlibrary loan program. A $15,000 grant from the Zinngrabe foundation in 1992 helped create the first computer lab in the library. The computer lab opened in 1993 with four computers, two printers, 2 CDroms, and Word Perfect 5.2 for word processing. |
